Since the earliest ages of the world, human beings have been on the move. Migration, shaped by changes in location, has continued throughout history for various reasons. Today, migration plays a significant role across the globe, and in recent years, the number of people migrating worldwide has steadily increased. According to UNHCR data from 2019, the number of displaced people worldwide has exceeded 70 million. Especially after the outbreak of the Syrian civil war, a large migration flow spread from Syria to the rest of the world. This situation has been perceived by states as a major problem, one they did not know how to address. In response, work began on various policies, which over time spread globally. As a result, migration studies have become more widespread—not only in academia but also within civil society and in the political arena. Mainstream media, however, has failed to adequately cover this pressing issue. EpicMigrations, on the other hand, believes it is essential for the world to truly understand what is happening. While providing many personal diaries and stories that offer a genuine perspective on the reality of migration, it also includes articles related to migration and refugee studies in academia. EpicMigrations believes that migration is far more than numbers and statistics. Numbers allow us to see the scale, but stories and diaries help us truly understand migrants and refugees as people. EpicMigrations seeks to see and understand the real human beings behind migration and displacement.
