MISSION
The International Association for Migration Research and Applications (UGAD) carries out its work in two main areas, both founded on the principle of integration. The first area is the Academic Unit, which includes the Health Unit, the Law Unit, and the Social Sciences Unit. The Health Unit addresses semi-academic and academic writings on migration and health. The Law Unit focuses on migration and law, producing studies on migrant rights in Turkey and in the international arena. The Social Sciences Unit brings together psychology, sociology, political science, social work, and literature, where members examine migration within their respective disciplines in semi-academic and academic ways. Connected to the Academic Unit, there is also a Stories Unit, which presents migration through personal narratives. The second area of focus is Media. The Media Unit works across popular platforms, designing its content according to the nature of each medium and its audience. This unit takes a clear stance against reducing “refugeeness” solely to drama and tragedy. Instead, it approaches people as human beings and carries out work centered on integration and cultural exchange.
VISION
Through its academic and media activities, UGAD contributes to the production of international migration policies and supports integration both nationally and internationally, addressing the global challenge of migration.
