Sağıroğlu completed his undergraduate studies at Middle East Technical University in 1999, his master’s degree at Gazi University in 2002, and his doctorate at Selçuk University in 2014. Between 2005 and 2009, he carried out academic work at the University of Damascus under the assignment of the Ministry of National Education. In 2014–2015, he served as the founding director of the Migration Research Center within the Directorate General of Migration Management under the Ministry of Interior, while also working as a faculty member in the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University. In 2015, he was appointed as the founding director of the Migration Policies Implementation and Research Center. In 2017, he was a visiting researcher at COMPAS, University of Oxford. He is currently continuing his academic career as an Associate Professor at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University.
